Re: A BMW motorcycle story

Very nice. I'm sure a lot of us here have a story similar to this one.

Re: A BMW motorcycle story

Sorry you lost your dad - at some point we all have to face that.

The bike came out very nice! Now, you just need to ride it until it regains that patina of age.

Re: A BMW motorcycle story

Sorry for your loss. I lost my Dad in 2007. I got my love of motorcycles from him and regret never being able to ride with him as He had had not been apart of my family's life after I was 10. I got back in touch with him in 2002 and did get to visit a couple of times. I even took him for a ride in the Sidecar on my 66 R69S. I also have had 5 ohther /2 BMW's over the years. I like that you had the pinstrips hand painted. To many BMW's have had them done with tape as that was "easier", All BMW's were hand pinstriped and there was a department of Women that did nothing else. If you look colse you will see that no two are done exactly the same.

Re: A BMW motorcycle story

Bones,

You still have the 69S Sidecar rig?

We got married on a 65 /2 Sidecar rig at a National BMW Rally in North Carolina. We did a 12,000 mile trip that year with the sidecar. As far south as Florida, as far north as Quebec, around the north side of the Great Lakes and back to California.

It's remarkable how important things like this become with time.

Re: A BMW motorcycle story

This is not my story and my dad is still alive. Sorry if I gave that impression.

Re: A BMW motorcycle story

No BMW's at all at the moment. Sold my 1200GS ADV to my Brotherinlaw Last year as I had not been riding it much (it was my outside bike in San Diego) I have thined the herd down to 12 bikes now but jus agreed to buy another to get it back to 13 as that is my lucky number.
