Damn!!! Don't know that I'd have the sense of mind to just stand still.
According to all the consultants and engineers that looked into the fault, I was in heat hotter than the surface of the sun and none can understand why I wasn't vaporized. It was like I was in a bubble of light. The bouncing balls were the strangest things I've ever seen in my life...they bounced like basket balls all around me and then shot off at high rates of speed into the bubble. It didn't mess with my head for some reason but out of about 15 people on the siite, two had a nervous breakdown and had to leave. Some of the workers ran to me while others ran down the road. Made one guy puke. The Local rural fire chief was the guy bringing the parts and saw the whole thing. He was starring at me in disbelief and I asked him what the F... he was looking at. He said "nothin!" I told him to bring me the part and he said he would never ever set foot in another substation for the rest of his life Sure wish it was on video. Dammit Jim

Has anyone actually talked to Dave, except for maybe this kid?

That ball of light thing doesn't really belong in "Another boring work related story". That is one wild story, hardly boring.

After the event did you notice any new and unusual super powers? How about new and strange urges? Are you hiding something from us?

No, no strange powers but I figured that it was time to live for the moment and plopping down 120K for a new SMB was real easy. Way too many close calls. Why worry about a new house payment.

Another Boring Work Related Story

Daveb

No thanks although it would be interesting to watch, from a distance.

Geez, Dave. You just gave me a new respect for my father-in-law. He is a retired lineman.

Yes depark that does wake you up I hate static. Trying to string wire under voltages higher than 200kV sucks. It will even burn rope into. I suppose you've been nailed off your truck inside the switch yard

Ask him about some of the old cross phase stories Aldercrest...I'm sure he'll have some good ones. Back in the 70's and 80's safety was a joke.

Re: Another Boring Work Related Story

We had dinner with the in-laws tonight. He was impressed with this one, and in fact shared a cross-phased story. Fortunately he was on the ground, but a couple of crewmates were up in a bucket and had a little excitement. Lucky for them, just slightly toasted and no serious injuries. Then, he added, a bottle of whiskey and seriously toasted later that evening...
