Anybody ever rent a 4x4 campervan on the Big Island?

Looked a bit but haven’t seen any smb or comparable rentals. The ultimate dream would be to ship our van there for a few weeks but that’s crazy, right?? We’ve rented westys there a few times, great fun but would love to have off-road capability. Thanks for any ideas!

Curious what the shipping cost will be to do so. I love the idea.

These guys are in Boise, Idaho. https://www.wandervans.com/

There's an outfit in Colorado that attends the Overland Expo every year but the name escape me.

Another one in Jackson, WY. adventureRIGS :: Customized Sportsmobile Rentals – Customized Sportsmobile rentals for your next outdoor adventure…

Another one. https://www.trekkervans.com/

edit to add: my bad. didn't realize the OP was asking about Hawaii.

I'd do a search on outdoorsy www.outdoorsy.com and see what you can find...

I rented a Ram Promaster city from Enterprise in Kona
https://www.ramtrucks.com/ram-promaster-city.html
It was cheaper than the cheapest rental car from the airport.
I slept in the back some nights and in a tent others for 7 days.
I packed my camp stove, tent, utensils, and other essentials in a cooler as a luggage item.
With a quick stop by Home Depot for precut plywood and a screw gun you could build a platform in the back two people can sleep on and stow gear underneath.
It got me where I wanted to go off road.
I didn't see any "4x4 campervans" for rent there.
The Big Island is awesome, this is a great way to see it.

I know Gary Berg had a small fleet of Vanagon Westfalias that he used to rent in Hawaii, but I don't think he's in that business any longer
