Buy Cerro Gordo for your SMB getaway....

California ghost town for sale for less than $1M - Story | KTTV

Cerro Gordo, Lone Pine, CA 93545 | Jake Rasmuson

Not sure if it's still available. Great place; it would be a hideous shame if it gets neglected and looted down to the foundation.

I kidded once with the caretaker that if you auctioned off all the miscellaneous bits there from building parts to hardware to furnishings and such you might make a million....

The sale of Cerro Gordo has been a topic of discussion over on the Explorers of the Mojave Desert Facebook page. The last post I happened to see was that the latest news was that a bidding battle had erupted raising the price at least double. And, that the future use of the property was being considered by the seller but not officially discussed publicly. It sounds like a pretty fluid situation so it will be interesting to see what happens.

Well there ya go.

This also has some hints to what we discuss with the #Vanlife popularity phenomena. It's just here mentioned in the idea of sites that for generations have been viewed of little to no use except for a few in the know to popular. Popular enough the big money folks want in on it. I don't intend to start a debate on land use issues or gentrification but like i said in the previous post, this is interesting to watch.

Kind of funny to be thinking of a ghost town like Cerro Gordo and gentrification, but after all, look at Telluride....

I'd glad that it will be preserved in any form.
