Do you say Pop, Soda or Coke?

We say "Pop" around here but just a few miles to the east is all them "Soda" people. The dividing line is the Allegheny Mountains.

Soda pop must fall under the "other" category. That's what I hear most often in the Pacific Northwest. Personally, if it's not beer I prefer brand name stuff like 7-n-7 or gin-n-tonic

Good to see my hometown in Wyoming is in blue because I've been saying Pop all my life. So, am I to understand the people in the South say give me a Coke when they want a 7-UP? That seems strange.

The map starts to make sense. When I grew up in Iowa, it was almost always pop, sometimes soda pop. When I got to California I couldn't understand SODA.
Now I'm multi-lingual!

What happeded to Pepsi? I usually say soda over pop.
Pop was used early on in Ca. Like one of the old signs on a early gas station store in Ballico read, "I don't know where mom is but pop's in the cooler"

Grew up in Oregon saying Pop. Went to college in California and when I said Pop, I was accused of being a hick from hickville. I was from hickville, but not really a hick, so I switched to Soda. Now I am back in hickville and have sort of stuck with Soda.
That is a great map. Where did you find it?

this California boy still stays soda years after being transplanted to Oregon. BUT...i don't drink the stuff so i don't really "ask" for it.
