Re: Favorite Beers
My beer tastes have changed quite a bit over the last 10 years. Living in Micro Brew Heaven (Pacific Northwest) I used to go hoppy. Now I've shifted toward the lighter side of life. Micro brewed lagers are my favorite. DO NOT hand me a Coors Lite!
Favorites are definately location driven. When I'm in Mexico I'll grab a Pacifico. When I'm in Idaho rafting I'll grab whatever I can steal out of my Quigley drivin adventure hound boating buddy's ice chest. He's a beer snob so I always have lots of quality to choose from.
When I've successfully made through Juicer and Crunch on the NF Payette I'll drink anything except river water! With any luck I'll be in Idaho tomorrow by 1500 trying to decide which beverage to load up in Gnarvan to have on hand for takeout beers.

I used to work for a German company and I really liked some of the beers they had over there but did not export. But truthfully I am not much of a drinker but when I do drink beer (like when I am camping) these days I have grown to like Blue Moon with a slice of Orange...

Re: Favorite Beers
As part of homebrewing, I've been trying for a few years to grow my own hops. Haven't been very successful so far, including this year. I do have one Cascade vine this year though, that is going full bore. My trellis is 14'-16' tall, and this one vine grew to the top and that started coming back down.

Re: Favorite Beers
We tried growing our hops for a while -- needed too much water for our region so we quit. The plants still live, just never get big. One year we did get a nice trellis with flowers and everything. Lovely.

Re: Favorite Beers
I drink whatever bottled ale is on sale locally. Most often...
Steelhead Ale - Mad River Brewing Co, Blue Lake Ca
Red Tail or Eye of the Hawk from Mendocino Brewing in Hopland Ca
Sierra Nevada - Chico Ca
Sierra Nevada and Torpedo Extra IPA are now available in cans. Good for river trips.
In an emergency situation I'll drink Bud, Coors or even - God forbid - Keystone.

Favorite Beers
Ok the beer that Aluminess had at the expo this year tops my favorite list along with a home brew from one of my accounts. One of the guys at Aluminess is one hell of a home brewer..
