South Carolina checking in! On Friday me and my daughter flew down to Ft. Lauderdale to go to my parents for the weekend in Naples. We flew right into the storm when we landed into Lauderdale. Probably the worst landing I've been in weather wise. When we touched down we either skided or hydroplaned on the runway. It rained and was breezy all afternoon. My wife said it rained all day Saturday here in SC. I came home today driving back a car I picked up in Florida. The I95 corridor was full of power company trucks heading north. I probably passed 200 on the way home. I don't know how far North they were headed either. Everything was the same as I left it here at home.

It's funny, usually our northern utility trucks head south when there are hurricanes, but the situation is reversed this time!
Just gassed up the SMB and topped off the batteries. I figured if the power goes out at least we can use the frig, microwave and even TV in there. Wish I had an onboard generator, though. Making me think about picking up a small Honda in the future to do double-duty as home backup and for camping.
I love my Honda 2K. Does a great job camping w the SMB and will run my home fridge, freezer, tv, internet and a couple lights no problem. And with the eco mode flipped on its very efficient.

My brother, who lives in Northern Ohio, was driving west on I-80 to Chicago yesterday and called me from the road with the same observation. A constant stream of utility trucks in groups of 4 to 6. All headed east.
I feel for folks in what I call high risk areas. Storms do a lot of damage to lines and there are times you're down for days. Sometimes I just want to tell the people out here in the central valley to quit gripin... I swear they complain when the power is down for 5 hours. "What about my refrigerator?" QUIT LOOKIN IN IT!
How about postin some pictures of the weather back there guys.
