Killer pics Brent...I really was upset missing the meet this year. Thanks Freedom Ford
I always go up on Monday or Tuesday and set up my scopes each night. Most of the
group shows up Thursday and views over the weekend, but I also like being up there
when nobody is around. Hopefully the PAS group treated you well. During the Mars
apparition of 2003, the normally quiet weekday at Glacier Point was filled with over
200 spectators and there were only two of us to deal with the public that night. This
year was special not just because of the Meteor shower, but because of the camping
weather. Here are a couple of images I took up there in 2004 with a new camera.
They came out only OK for a short shot:
These are actually poor images but we don't usually take the time to expose a good
shot unless nobody is around. Takes way too long. The computer screen screws up
the visitors eyes, so I usually set it up towards the end. At least the public can get
a clue what's out there. (BTW you can see these objects this through a scope, but
the eye can't see the color or detail like timed images similar to these)
