Do you get to drive all tinge ones you haul? The haulers I have talked to and seen load their own. Great occupation.

Thanks for sharing the pictures, very cool. Paul Newman is a legend, that guy did not waste a minute of life.

Re: Hauling porsches - Split from Racetrack, Death Valley Gr

I do get to drive some of these cars, besides just loading/unloading them. I was at a show in VA and one of the drivers got sick, so I drove a Mercedes for a couple hundred miles through the Blue Ridge Mountains. I'm also friends with some of my customers and they don't mind me taking them for a spin. I did get to take the Steve McQueen 911 for a drive through the CT countryside! That was something special!

The very rare cars don't get driven much. They will pay me to drive 100+ miles to their house, pick up their car, and deliver it 30 miles or so, then drive home. And, the next week I will do the same job to get it back to their house. These people have so much money! I was paid $7500 to take a car from CA to NC and back...for a 3 hour show. The car wasn't even in the show, it was just on display.

The silver 911 belongs to a lawyer. He also owns the red 911 that just won Pebble Beach. That red 911 is an all original, 1965 with only 24k miles on it. It still has the original tires! The car looks like it just rolled off the showroom floor.

I never got to meet Paul Newman even though I hauled 2 of his racecars. From what I've heard, he was one hell of a guy.

Re: Hauling porsches - Split from Racetrack, Death Valley Gr

I guess the best story I have is my own! I actually landed a job racing a Porsche GT3 Cup Car in the Rolex Series from one of my customers. I'll go into detail if anyone cares but I went from driving a truck to racing Daytona (among other places) practically overnight!

(How do I embed videos???)

This video covers the cliff notes!

I love the way this car sounds. At the end of the clip...that's about 160mph.
