I hate hail

Damned hail pummeled my rig. Hood is beat up. Solar panels survived.

This was the exact thing I worried about when I got it last year. No reasonable covered storage near me. Dammit.

Re: I hate hail

Too depressing.

I guess the good news is that I needn't worry too much about other little dings and scratches now. The "newness" has been violated.

Re: I hate hail

Well crap, we've been out of town for a week, I hope I don't come home to find our rig beat to shit....been a fear of mine, esp the solar panel, but have managed to avoid any large damaging hail so far up in Boulder, just pea sized. I know all too well the effects hail can have on cars, especially down in Denver and the eastern plains, was down there one day years ago and came outside to pea sized hail pouring down that quickly turned to golf ball sized projectiles hurtling down through car windows just as I whipped my pristine red 1987 Audi 4000CS Quattro under a hotel covered entrance.....so relieved, the entire hotel parking lot full of cars were all trashed save for about a dozen that managed to squeeze under the entrance next to me. Sorry to hear.....

Re: I hate hail

Solar panels are OK... its the sheet metal - hood, little bit of roof between the panels and windshield, and the passenger side.

I may wait till autumn to have it fixed just in case the stupid weather craps on me again this summer. I hate having it outside just because of this... but the covered parking options here are $$$$$.

Re: I hate hail

Man, sorry to hear it. No worse news than that. You can replace the hood easily and the roof of an SMB never gets seen (yeah, I know you still know it's there). It's the roof pillars that always break my heart because it seems like they would be so hard to fix, and they're easy to see. You guys on the front range get some crazy a** hail!

Nope, metal... I doubt fiberglass could bend / dent. The pop top and Yakima box over it appear to be just fine.

Gotta wait till next week to see what an adjustor says.

No windshield damage, thankfully... just the roof right above (not covered by the pop top).
