Looks like it will be available in the US. Here is the answer to no Ford E-series offered anymore. The powerplants are impressive for this rig!

- LI Ion Hybrid
- 100kw li ion electric

Re: Impressive rig and powerplants offered!!

The Econoline is not gone quite yet. Sounds like a few more years. By that point, something new might be better. This is from Automotive News:

Econoline, Transit: Mulally's global vehicle plan hit its first snag in February when Ford delayed its full-sized commercial-van program. That vehicle, the next generation of Ford's Transit van, will be sold around the world. U.S. sales had been slated for the 2012 model year, eventually replacing the Econoline van.

The plan is intact, but the timing has slipped. Now the North American version of the Transit, code-named V363, is expected to go into production for the 2014 model year at Ford's assembly plant in Avon Lake, Ohio. The Econoline could carry on for a short time after the Transit begins, but eventually it would be discontinued.

The whole article was here: http://reviews.cnet.com/8301-13746_7-10296358-48.html

So, it sounds like 2014 or even a little further.

Also, by that point, there might be better options out there than the old E-Series. I know it sounds like heresy, but that's life.

All the Tacoma guys freaked out with the big re-design in 05, but most people like it now.

Also, the thing to remember is that there will be a definite need for a commercial-grade van/truck that size. THAT will not change. It's not like plumbers and other contractors will suddenly need a smaller, less heavy duty vehicle. Ford knows this, too.

That rig you posted is pretty interesting, too.

Seems like a mini-Unimog/Pinzgauer to me.

I'd love to see this work out, but I hope their truck is better than their website. A few pictures but no real content. Looks to me like they're trying to drum up investors.

Re: Impressive rig and powerplants offered!!

The web site is not very good I agree. Here is a better one I found.

http://www.bremachtrex.com/

This will be the first time Bremachs are available to the USA. The CA company must be an importer and that is new, however Bremachs have been around a long time and have been made into campers for awhile as well. The T-Rex is the newest version and what's impressive is the powerplants offered, Propane, electric, hybrid, or gas versions. Do a you tube search of Bremach and you will see a lot of them. The T-rex is still being developed.

Some history of Bremach;

Quote:
Bremach vehicles were first produced at the end of the 1960’s derived from two long standing Italian manufacturing companies. In 1956 “Fratelli Brenna” was established as a major machine shop for the growing manufacturing sector in post war Italy. There was great economic development founded on the switch from military to civilian manufacturing which encouraged development of new products aimed at the growing civilian market and requiring the support of a new wave of high quality designers, engineers and machinery. At the same time a significant manufacturer of military equipment “Aeronautics Macchi” developed a new 3-wheel compact, reliable delivery vehicle for light weight freight carriage. Italy was a large market with major Italian industrial groups emerging alongside the smaller enterprises at this time of economic growth.
Toward the end of the 1960’s Fratelli Brenna decided to acquire the small 3-wheeled delivery vehicle developed by Aeronautics Macchi now called the Aermacchi and using their expertise to improve it. Taking a part of each name BREMACH was born.Bremach concentrated on the light freight segment of the market and began to design, test and then manufacture a 3.5T vehicle. Bremach became synonymous with a hard working, durable vehicle and grew into a strong company with solid historical foundations. Right from the start the originality of the new design of Bremach was recognised and with its inherent versatility and strength it developed into a great working vehicle.
Over time the design was modified to allow use for heavier goods and the range was extended to include 6.0T gross vehicle weight options. In the late 1990’s Bremach became an important part of the PRO.DE group which has a long and successful history in automotive design and engineering in the prestigious Italian vehicle industry Darmak.it. Bremach has been a constant presence in the market both in Italy and abroad since its inception and thanks to its success has been able to invest in developing and improving its product range culminating in the current Job Model Year 2006 with new technical and aesthetic characteristics.

Re: Impressive rig and powerplants offered!!

A 40 to 60,000 base vehicle isn't going to replace a van here in the U.S. (pricing seems a bit vague...) and the setup is way overkill for American infrastructure.

That said, I want one. It would look great next to the Unimog, Duce and a Half, and Kamaz all of which I'd get as soon I win the Lottery!

Re: Impressive rig and powerplants offered!!

Here's a nice rig, an International CXT. Maybe a little big for a trail.
