The trick to getting less attention is to travel with a superior van...
Most of the time I go camping with bemerritt. He has "Clif" fully decked out in aluminess gear, pop top with big rack/LED bar, MaxTraxx mounted on the side of his car, basically all the goodies. Nobody comes up to ask me about my windowless white van when I am parked next to him!
My other travel partner (Dad), just bought a Winnebago Sprinter... Our first little mini trip out together he had people coming up to chat with him and look inside of his rig. Everyone ignored me and the boring white E350!

Hmm.
I guess the upshot of #vanlife is that if my engine fails I can just put the sucker up on blocks and AirBNB it at $100/night until I have enough for a new engine. Cool.

You could get $150 if you put a touchscreen up front and ran GaiaGPS with maps of exotic places for an additional fantasy.

I get comments & questions with my E350. Mostly when I am pulling my little bike hauler I get questions about it more than the van lol.
I dont live & breathe social media other than a forum or two with specific interests. Hashtag what?
My interest in my own van 8 years in is decreasing, but onlookers still ask questions, which I dont mind. My van is different!
Its hard to be low profile in a 4x4 van, and I dont mind talking to people anyway.

[QUOTE=BroncoHauler;239585]They're not minivans, so that's already a victory in my book.]
My wife and I travelled pretty extensively in minivans over about a fifteen year period. First mini was a Plymouth Voyager, the second was a Ford Windstar. The small vans were great for tossing our kayaks on top and our gear in the back. I preferred the Voyager because of the different ways you could configure the seats and the floor was level. The only thing the Windstar had as an advantage was two back doors so there wasn't any crawling over each other in the middle of the night. I could write a lot more but I'm afraid I'm pretty far from the original topic. Just didn't want them too badly maligned.

Not exactly #vanlife, but Airstream is evidently reaping the benefits of the lifestyle.
