issue with my Transfer Flow unit

I have just recently got a 2001 Quigley SMB that has a second tank by Transfer Flow inc . I can not fill the second tank It just backs up and stops the filling process at the pump like its full. Any Ideas what the problem could be. Any help would be great.

Thanks

Crazy question but is the TF gauge reading that both tanks are close to empty? Is the TF gauge showing the tanks being balanced as fuel is used? ie. rear 11 gals and front 11 gals?

And there are two filler necks, the rear filler is basically saying it is full and does not want accept any fuel ?

Depending on the pump the rear can be tricky. The routing used to go from the filler neck door to the rear tank has a couple hard bends, so it can back up and splash causing the pump to shut off.

Try a couple things.. 1. A different gas station with different pumps. 2. Try inserting the pump nozzle farther in, or less in. 3. Don't use the 'auto' lock feature on the pump, do it slowly by hand.

Does the TF readout actually say 0 for the rear tank? That'd be rare, as that means you (or someone) came very close to running the van out.

Sounds like it is full and the sending unit does not work.

Put more fuel in it slowly, up until it is visible in the filler neck to confirm.

Also, it won't balance if there is more in the front than in the rear.. The rear will keep itself balanced with the front if it has more or equal, but won't pump any fuel into the front if the rear is lower than the front.

Finally, don't do this (unless you like walking):

I have only partially filled it 2xs now both time at a deferent station. Using both of you suggested fill methods with no luck. The routing does look problematic and up hill. Yes the TF is now actually at 0 I have had up to 8gal when i purchased it and drove it home.

So at some point it read 1 on the front and 0 on the rear and you were miles away from running out altogether? Then you added diesel to the front and so it now reads 8 on the front and 0 on the rear?

It doesn't sound like anything is wrong, if you were able to get diesel in and it pumped properly from rear to front, but hard to say for sure. The routing IS weird when properly installed, but it works, unless someone changed it. But I can't imagine why anyone would change it.

Also, make sure not to use the wide mouth pumps designed for trucks. Those are definitely tricky with the TF dual tanks.
