Just another Sportsmobile owner...

Man, I saw 5 SMB at Mammoth this past weekend. I was soooo excited to see so many SMB's because this was one of my first real trips in the van and I thought that I might be able to talk to other SMB owners. I finally saw a guy getting out of his SMB, which looked nearly identical to mine, so I started talking to him. He TOTALLY blew me off and made me fell like an idiot. I know I am a bit younger and I probably don't fit the SMB owners mold (and I'm not a trustafarian) but this guy really blew me off. I know I can't base all my encounters on this but I was just a little disappointed. But hey, adventurduo was way cool when I ran into them...so I guess I'm batting .500. Just a thought...

That was definately an outlier experience.

The Owens valley and Mammoth are very popular receration areas for SMB owners. Fishing, camping, skiiing, off-roading, dirtbiking, MTB riding, etc.....the area has it all. We typically see 3-5 SMBs each visit too. Every owner I've met thus far has been a pleasure to chat with and I usually learn something from the conversation too. We're heading up in a few hours for the week and will say hi if we see you.

trustafarian LOL!

We also had an experience like that up in Mammoth. We took it as they were in a hurry to get to the lift. I guess there could be some SMB owners dont think there vehicles are that big of a deal. Or the guy could just be a jerk.

Yeah, I should give the guy the benefit of the doubt. He probably was in a hurry to get to the lift and didn't feel like chatting with some dude about his "cool" van while there were some fresh turns to be made...

Hey Veg,

I experience the same thing in Yellowstone. We saw the Only SMB in our trip and the guy totally snubbed us! I figured the guys was too busy, just in a hurry or a 30 y/o and his 29 y/o wife was just gawking at my super cool rig and I will not pay attention to them look. This didn't bother me a bit, because we have met many, many SMB owners that totally accommodated us and went out of their way to show us their vans.

P.S. We also saw an EarthRoamer, and the owner was totally cool and we chatted for about 1/2 an hour and he let us see his interior. But, he was a former SMB Owner as well!

Trustifarian is a word I only learned on moving to Denver, as Boulder is infested with them.

At the January rally in death valley there was a guy in an SMB who didn't give us the time of day. I don't know if he'd chatted himself out with the earlier people from our group, but I fail to see how 7 SMBs in a row would get a cold shoulder from another owner, but it did.

There's only one possible answer, they must not know about the forum! Yeah, that's it!

Out of all my encounters, I have had only one guy who was kinda rude .

I told him about the forum, and he said he didn't have time for that nerdy stuff.

Fellow nerds unite!
