I have not read up on this
Sad for him and his family

However, very clear to me a Sat phone is in my near future
Dont know if it would have helped this Gent, but it certainly could not hurt

Bad situation, bad news. Leaving a broken down or stuck vehicle is almost never a good idea. Then again, if you don't think anyone's looking for you, it would be a tough decision. From the one "missing poster", it seems that he didn't have the doors on his Jeep, which would have been rough given the weather and the altitude of where he was.
