My ideal was (is) the 7.3L out of my 99 F250 and the SMB 4x4 in an EB... unfortunately I never found a 7.3 that wasn't quigley (not even sure they overlap)

But I like the power of the 6.0 just fine. Although my pickup feels like it could pull 3 jeeps on a gooseneck (and I've seen that done) and the van doesn't, it seems to have plenty for flat towing and will probably have enough to get my trailer and jeep around too.

Before I committed to the SMB I looked at a GTRV van with a salemkroger 4x4 upfit and a cummings diesel. it was at the GTRV facility, and I think he said he paid over $20k to put it in.

code reader and condensation

It might be worth your while to get a "code reader" (and a list of codes) so you can look up what the Check Engine light means when it lights up on a trip. Sometimes it only means something very minor with an emissions-related aspect of the engine, such as fuel vapor recovery (I've seen this), which you can safely ignore.

My pop-top gets wet occasionaly from interior condensation (when using the stove) or rain-splash when I'm camping. It's a good idea to leave it open to dry for a day or two when you get home, or you'll get mold on the canvas.

Wet Spots

From the photo I'd say your light fixture is leaking. Possibly through the fixture mounts. The spots are in line with the corners of the fixture when the top is folded down against it. If you have some TSP a light solution will remove the stains. Almost anything else will leave it's own residue and another stain.

trisodiumphosphate, a general purpose cleaner you can usually find at a hardware store.

So the engine light... they are now claiming that the turbo is fine diddly-ine and that it was something they forgot to reset. But guess what? The "part" for the airbag was the wrong thing (supposedly) so I'm still having to take it back to the dealership later this week- but I'm happy to at least have it back in the meantime.
