Those are some amazing VW's you get to play with Tom. I had a pretty quick 66 bug back in the early - mid 80's. 2ltr (78.4 x 90.5) with 48IDA webbers, engine and trans were built by Dave Folts in Fullerton CA. Would run 12.80's and I street raced Cory McClenathan aka Cory Mac several times in his white with flames 1958 oval window rag top. He was winning the Bug-In back then with a different motor before moving to NHRA Pro racing.
VW's were replaced by Porsche's and I began doing PCA DE's and Autocross events in the mid 90's in a track prepared 930 turbo. Just finished my 10th season road racing with SCCA & Conference in a really slow 1986 Porsche 944. Podium finish in the Small Bore 2 class at the Portland Rose Cup races this year was big for me. And we finished the season October 14th at PIR running the Cascade 8 hour enduro. Good Times!
