I just finished it last night and realized it was made in 2003. Hard to believe since it's such a timeless film. Also, the race vehicles looked pretty much like they do now. Anyway, I guess it's way old news to some but still great!

Shot in one 12 minute take with no edits except better sound of the Ferrari wailing through Paris at 6 am on a summer, weekday morning is Rendezvous. Great front mounted camera that shows the driver screaming through red lights and weaving his way to pick up his date. DVD via a British company on the web. Cheap enough and arrived in a week.

Here it is online, but only mediocre quality: vimeo.com/34039780
The actual car driven was a big fancy Mercedes. The Ferrari sounds were dubbed in later. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/C%27%C...un_rendez-vous

Climb Dance - Finnish rally racer Ari Vatanen setting a record hill climb up Pike's Peak (back before it was paved), in a Peugeot.
Less than 5 minutes and no talking, just the sound of a screaming engine. Maximize your screen, turn up the sound, and enjoy.
Cheers,
Brent

I saw the academy award winning Grand Prix on the big screen as a 6yr old kid... the sights, sounds, and camera work had me hypnotized for the entire length of the film. That, and going to my first drag race the same year, made a lifelong motorsports fan/gear head out of me!

Geoff, the vimeo link won't work for me. I'm at work though. Is it just me?
Thanks

No, it doesn't work for me, either.

Found it

Great film and a really cool virtual tour of old Paris, but also pretty obvious it's dubbed. I'm sure there would've been a lot more honking and yelling.
