Might be the last green sunstone Jan does, after all the 'fun' he had polishing it.

Re: Oregon rockhounding?

Yeah, something about the cleavage planes hit me at polish time. There's a reason I don't drink while cutting, but do when polishing!

Attached is a cabochon from one of the stones Herb had. It was really too thik to make a decent facetted stone, but what a cab! It is very clear until the schiller reflects the bright light!

later,
jan

Re: Oregon rockhounding?

Awesome work. I dabble with silver and enamel and know much work Jan put in very impressive.

They're Herb's. He found 'em and I'm cutting them for a slight fee. I used to do a bunch of cutting but have much more fun cutting them for the actual finders. He just has to put up with my scheduling, but now I've almost finished the 4th stone :-)

later,
jan

Raw state:

Cabbed:

Final state:

Unfortunately, the guy I found on Etsy to wrap the stone in copper, didn't listen to me when I asked for the fat end to be on top (shows the schiller much better), but all in all, my wife was thrilled when I had my son give it to here for our anniversary.
