Just needed some bigger tires... When I left Santa Cruz last Thursday it was raining pretty hard at times and the road between SC and HMB was blocked due to an accident or a land slide or something. I had to back track. I can imagine slides can happen pretty quickly and be pretty nasty in that neck of the woods.
