Re: Planning a trip - would appreciate your advice

OK here is a non-camping question:

Have you got any good hotel address at LA not too far from the international airport?
2 adults 3 kids not too expensive would be good

We are not allowed to take our rental vehicle after an international flight before 24hrs...

Thanks for any ideas...

We are planning hard our trip but not easy when far away
But we're getting there

Re: Planning a trip - would appreciate your advice

Tons of great hotels on the westside of LA. Just depends on price range and needs. I'd venture a bit north from the LAX area if you can (Marina Del Rey, Venice, Santa Monica). If you want to splurge try Shutters or Casa Del Mar (next door to each other) in Santa Monica. I'm sure there are some more eclectic choices, too. As a sidenote, if you have time grab a burger at Father's Office in Santa Monica. It is fantastic.

Maybe someone else can chime in with some specifics, it's been 10 years since I lived there.

I agree with Jage. You will see more with less miles starting from Denver and leaving at San Fransisco or LA. I did such a trip 6 years ago in April. North rim of Grand Canyon was still close due to high snow. We had some quite frozen nights in Colorado and 42°C (107°F) in Death Valley.
Moab is a great place to go, Lake Powel definitely less if you don't have or want to hire a boat... And don't hesitate to spent at least on full day for hiking in places like Grand Canyon, Zion, Bryce, Moab, etc.
If you want, I can send you a PM with our road trip...

Wow, I've never heard of such a thing! What rental agency are you using? I rent cars all the time immediately following international flights (Germany, mainly, but also elsewhere).

Re: Planning a trip - would appreciate your advice

Hi Pschitt,
Yes I think we are booked with Cruise America too...
The wait isn't too bad as it will give us some time to recover from jet-lag and have a look round LA

By the way Pschitt, welcome to the forum

Ah, that's right, you are renting an RV not a car. I get it now.
