Could it have been:
-because you were parked in front of their place, taking up valuable party parking in some guest's mind?
or
-because you were parked on their side of the street, someone more PO'd about the noise decided to take revenge?

My SMB got pinged with a 22 or BB gun at 2AM one hot night in the summer of 2007 right in my driveway. The irritating thing is that I heard it happen and got up to see who did it, but the sucker ran off down the street (no vehicle was around).

I think they were aiming at the left rear tail light and hit the side of the van instead, leaving a nice deep dent.

Everey summer and fall there is a spurt of random vehecle violence in this town, and occasionally the cops actually arrest someone. That said, I'm glad I never park out on the street, but I wish the garage was tall enough to hide the SMB in it.

Garage
Mike did you jinx me? I got up this morning and my work truck was egged. Glad they missed the van! Unreal.

Sorry to hear that, dave. And Ed...wow.

Jage, It was on my side of the street, and parking is not normally an issue, especially this time of year. (That said, I've witnessed people being territorial about spaces in front of their abodes here near the beach.)

I do think it most likely my neighbors having the soiree did the egging, but not having proof of that makes me hesitant to accuse. The hormone/alcohol/entitlement/mob-behavior cocktail I suspect was behind the egging could produce all manner of spontaneous behavior, I think.

oclv, thanks for that insight.

I'm sure I'll get to meet up with these neighbors eventually. Probably when they're having their next bash...

If a pack of SMB's were to rally in Berkley I imagine it could turn to a case of being the target of "Specific Soberering Stupidity."

I could be driving back to the Bay Area in January. The safest place to park overnight and not get hassled by enviornmentalists (of which I am one) is in deepest Oakland where there's gunfire at night and no one cares about monster van driving eco-criminals.

Just slap a Raiders bumper sticker on it, and you'll be left alone. Of course, once you leave Oakland, everyone else will question your sanity for supporting the worst team in football.

Or move up here to the Olympic Peninsula. Nobody will egg your van (eggs are edible and cost real money), but a sixty-something original hippy might paint a peace symbol on it or a solstice-worshipper might decide it's a monolith. Of course, there's something to be said for a bunch of young folks dancing naked around your SMB.
