Thanks. Yes, I remember growing up on a z50 and not too long ago had a 70. Those things are hard to kill and great little wheelie machines, but 50/70 are too small for what I need now, and nowhere near street legal.

Cheap CT-70, but only for rent.

The owner rents it out for Motorcycle license testing.

Two seat Rukus (legal?)

Re: Scooters and other 'bumper' additions

I ended up going with a SYM HD200 scooter which weighs ~297 dry and fits nicely on our versa haul. I picked this scooter for four reasons. #1 weight #2 rides two people comfortably #3 the storage options (under the seat and on the back rack) and #4 I can go ~65MPH which helps when I have to get on certain roads. With two people I can only get to ~55.

Re: Scooters and other 'bumper' additions

We had a Honda Elite 80 and a Honda Reflex 250, both for Mandi when she went back to college. The 80 just didn't cut it around here. I used it to make short grocery runs but the 250 was a lot more fun. She didn't like the looks of the Rukus then but I likened it to a Rokon which is something I want to try one day. I was going to recommend the Rokon then ran a cursory search and man are they pricey.

There are shops here that can tune the crap out of scooters. I can't remember the brand, but years ago I was interested in a 50cc 2-stroke that could be tuned way up. Super light and fast. Last I checked, here in Florida a license is not required for anything under 50cc. IIRC, most 50cc are actually 49 so there are tons of them running around with college students on them. Maybe target craigslist for the closest college towns for a Rukus.

Thanks John. I've back-burnered this for now. I need to sell a few things, but I want one badly! I guess I just miss having some sort of 2 wheeled toy around.

You can always get a 50cc Chinese scooter for less than the cost of a good bike. It even comes in PINK

Yeah, that's the truth. Just about every bicycle in my garage cost me more than I paid for my SMB!
