Should I be worried about this trip?

Last fall we purchased a 2WD 10 year old well-maintined Chevy Sportsmobile RB. We're taking a trip to Yellowstone this summer. On the way back, my wife wants to stop and do some sunstone mining in Oregon. If you have a moment, take a look at the directions in this link (http://highdesertgemsandminerals.com/html/location.html) and consider my complete lack of experience driving on anything but smooth pavement and that we will be in a 2WD 10 year old vehicle. I don't mind a little challenge, but I don't want to get myself into trouble or make the evening news.

Any thoughs would be appreciated.

Dave

Well the touristyness of it and the public restroom right near makes me believe it would all be well maintained dirt or gravel roads. They don't warn away the potential customer in a Mazda Miata so your van should be able to make it just fine.

As far as Oregon, the dirt roads over the mountain around Medford and Wolf Creek have always been well maintained, but I've never been around Adel.

Good luck!

my guess is you'll just be on dirt roads, shouldn't be a problem. They don't mention needing any sort of 4x4 capability, just a moderate pace.

unless the weather is bad, I wouldn't hesitate, but you could always call them just to be sure...
