People with Sprinters tend to drive purty fast.

They are limited at 83 Mph by the computer - it was a little frustrating when I was driving mine back from picking it up in Oklahoma.

That's interesting! I know in Germany that by law trucks over a certain weight have to have speed-limiters built in. A German-tagged Sprinter I drove in France, for example, wouldn't go much over 100 km/h on the highways.

Freight vehicles above a certain weight are limited to 90km/h in the European Union as well as being restricted to the 2 inside lanes on a 3 (or more) lane highway.

It makes driving safer and much more pleasant for everyone else.

Except those in the passing lane stuck behind the jackass talking on his cellphone.

I didn't know about the restriction but I know they will do that whole 82 mph. I think baja is saying he did as well. I think 82 mph is purty fast for a van and definitly on the cops radar for revenue.

You don't see too much of that in Europe, especially in Germany. It's against the law to use a cellphone while driving, and left-lane bandits are rare because everyone pretty much follows the "drive left except to pass" rule. I feel much safer on an autobahn at 100mph than I do on a US highway at 60, because everyone follows the rules (mostly).

Trucks seem especially orderly, staying mostly to the right lane except to pass.

Re: Sighting - Pulled over by CHP Moto Cop

Yes, it's "drive right except to pass"! And in many places in Germany, heavy trucks and trailers are not allowed to pass between 7 AM to 9 PM. In Switzerland, all trucks over 5 tons (11'000 pounds) have speed limiters at 80 km/h (50 mph). In rest of Europe, it's generally 90 km/h (55 mph)... But Sprinters don't.
