SMB Owner Paul Walker died.

I never met Paul Walker (Fast & Furious) but I meet the guy that bought his SMB That guy come through Jackson about 2 or 3 years ago. Super nice guy Fire Cheif in Anchorage Ak. (I think)
So after meeting the guy that bought Paul's SMB I always felt different about Paul Knowing he was one of us.
Im not sure if he bought another one or not.
Sad to die so young.

Ron

Re: SMB Owner Paul Walker died.

Met him twice. Car nut. Laid back surfer dude and was easy to talk to.

I remember seeing a mutual friend tow one of his many cars to track days here in So Cal with his smb. I didn't care about smb back then so I don't remember what it looked like.

Re: SMB Owner Paul Walker died.

He did buy another van, not a SMB though. Told me it was too much of a hassle! Wanted to simplify his next rig. He was actually a big 7.3 fan, had a 7.3 truck, 7.3 Excursion and a 7.3 van. We talked several times about building it, really cool guy and he was defiantly one of "us".

Re: SMB Owner Paul Walker died.

Hi Ron,
It was good meeting up with you at Jackson Hole. The trip to Anchorage was great,
(Paul Walker’s SMB was fully outfitted and a pleasure to drive). Paul Walker was a “gearhead” and died what he enjoyed doing…..just way to young.
The SMB is in Santa Barbara as of last week.. Ironically we lived only blocks away from each other and went to the same college. He was really grounded and a good person.
Next month I will come down from Anchorage and take the SMB on another adventure….as Paul said focus on having fun in the now.
Soren
PS see my gallery for pictures of his SMB

Neat story Soren.

Did you deal with Ritchie when you bought the smb?

Also, nice tidbit of info Chris. That's awesome that he appreciated the 7.3. I've had at one point or another every variation of the 7.3 as well (f and e series and excursion all 4x4).

Re: SMB Owner Paul Walker died.

the f & f movies were garbage and put a big ole black eye on the import car scene, so his passing wasnt devastating to me...at first. dont get me wrong, i dont wish endings like this on anyone and my condolences go out to his daughter, family, and friends. however after hearing some of the things, including info in this thread, it gives me a little heavier heart. we definitely need more people like this in our world...

Re: SMB Owner Paul Walker died.

^^^ amazing.

sucks that the majority of us dont hear stuff about people like this before they pass. i had no idea how much he focused on helping the less fortunate. was a stand up man for sure.
