The sound of music.....

As most of you know I have had two back to back vans with the V-10 and although the engine works great for my needs I miss my past diesels. I constantly think about building a 7.3 or 6.0 for the many attributes but funds will not allow for two at a time. Until such time I may just make a recording of either diesel to play in the background while driving. Wonder if my video guy can sync it to throttle position for that extra realistic touch.....someday...

My buddies were always thankful when they heard my 6.0 coming. It was the sound of beer.

Well, BMW now does it! They have a 'perpetual' soundtrack of engine noise playing in the cabin of their higher end cars now, since the cabins are so quiet you can't hear the engine anymore.
I laughed. I know what you mean, but for a luxury automaker to actually ADD sound to a car that has become too quiet?

You could really mess with people. Record a Dodge Ram diesel and play that back.

I had read that, too! It's so silly. Maybe the 5 series is getting so posh that it's losing the qualities that made it such a great car in the past?

Our 335is has no need of such a system, as the exhaust sound is pretty obnoxious without any help.

And I love that.

Yep, the fact that they have this system in place in the M5 is a travesty. I'm a huge BMW fan and love the ones I own(ed), but that just irks me. Luckily, the aftermarket is still huge for them so most enthusiasts will hear exhaust notes eventually.

Yep, we have an e39 with a Dinan exhaust and I love to hear it sing! But fake singing?
