Yea, it got worse when the insurance company said I only have coverage to 2K for contents. Opps, Guess I should have read the policy a bit better. At least I had enough common sense to pull the high priced stuff out but my binos cost 1200...that hurts.

Dave ,
You might want to inquire into your home owners insurance carrier , when I had one of my trucks stolen in Huntington Beach , California my home owner policy covered all of the item's not attached to the vehicle and my current policy is the same .

X2 What Greggde said, I too had one stolen as described earlier in this thread. To expand on that I had just moved to a new house and the trunk was full of stuff from the old garage, tools, equipment, and misc other stuff. The one item taken that was oh so painful was an American flag with 48 stars, a very sentimental antique flag.

Anyway homeowners covered the contents of the trunk.

Done that but unlike the auto insurance which will not go up according to GMAC, but my homeowners can go up plus there is the deductable so it looks like I'll have to skip it and take a small loss but if Freedom kicks in I'll be OK All the bolted down stuff is covered at least.

I'm sorry to hear about your giant headache with a Ford Dealer. I know I'd be pissed beyond repair until they made everything right.

My mechanic makes it a point to let me know that he puts my minivan or car inside if he keeps it overnight. That's reassuring to me. But he's a one-man show. Larger dealers are a different animal alltogether. Hopefully they make it right with you!

Re: They just broke into my van at Freedom Ford of Fresno

Good lord Dave! I am so sorry to hear about this. Just got back from vacation and read this post. Now I'm scared to go near Fresno for any SMB updates!

Even up here in low crime country, the Ford dealer keeps my SMB inside overnight if they are still working on it, or locked up in their back lot surrounded by chain link and barbed wire.

I would have expected something like this at a less than remote trail head but not at a dealership.

On another insurance note, I just got a separate camera insurance policy that covers the several K worth of camera gear my wife carries around in the SMB. The policy will cover lost, stolen or dropped camera equipment in or out of the vehicle all for around $120/year.
