Tsunami from inside the car

A friend of mine sent me this link. It does not look like any amount of chase lift would have helped. Makes me wish I could understand Japanese. It also shows what can happen when crossing a stream/river if you are not paying attention to what you are doing. Flooded intersections can also float your rig.

My assumption was they lived, because the video was available. But, that ending didn't look good.

A couple things I noticed.
It's snowing. Once you get wet how long till hypothermia gets you.
I don't speak any Japanese so I don't know what they are saying but the voices of the guys in the car are a lot more calm than I'd be in the same situation.
Trying trying to figure out the ending. Did they float into a garage?

I thought it was a narrator and the car was abandoned- the dash cam/wipers etc just kept going. There was no noise other than the occasional bang and clunks of collisions. No people I could see apart from the guy on the minivan roof.

The end looked like they got hit/submerged by a cargo container, semi trailer or something else larger and heavier.

I've floated while driving before, although I was lucky enough to have somewhere to go (specifically up the bank after about a mile of bobbing and trying to drive out of river holes by feel)

Longer version of the video

Yu Muroga was doing his job making deliveries when the 3.11 earthquake hit. Unaware, like many people in the area, of how far inland the tsunami would travel, he continued to drive and do his job after the earthquake struck. The HD camera mounted on his dashboard captured not only the earthquake but also the moment he and several other drivers were suddenly engulfed in the tsunami. He escaped from the vehicle seconds before it was crushed by other debris and sunk underwater. His car and the camera have only recently been recovered by the police. The camera was heavily damaged but a video expert was able to retrieve this footage.

I like the longer version better, if for no other reason than we start out knowing he lived.

Holy $#!+ I used to run white water. That was scarrier than Deliverance. At least the RV sized boulders in a river don't come rollin' down on top of you. The worst thing about this is how it came out of nowhere and knowing it was real.
