Yeah, he's brilliant IMO, and probably one of the most humble and underrated artists out there.

86Scotty: I've only listened to O'Connor with others. What would you recommend for an O'Conner album, esp. one that highlights his Appalachian roots. And, how about his collaborations with Yo Yo Ma? Any recommendations?

I would definitely go for Markology or Retrospective. They are both older, more raw albums when he played more guitar and mando, and it's mostly solo playing. My favorite album of his, by far, is a quartet with Chris Thile, Bryan Sutton and Byron House called 30 Year Retrospective. It's a double album and absolutely amazing, but much more on the side of acoustic jazz than mountain music or bluegrass. Anyway, you said you'd heard some of the collaborations.
He's done a few things with YoYo Ma like Appalachian Journey.
For an amazing YoYo Ma album, albeit with Thile, Edgar Meyer and Stuart Duncan on fiddle, check out The Goat Rodeo Sessions.
