Re: What if there were no SMBs?

Well I guess you measure in US Gal, so that would be about 5.5 USD per US Gal.
We pay 1.57 CHF per Liter. that is for 95 Unleaded

Say it's an alternate reality and SMB went out of buisness in the 1970's instead of transitioning to full size vans (after the VWs they go belly up). You can convert to 4x4 or go 2wd as you like it.

What would you get or build?

Personally, I'm going with the Chinook Baja with an Aluminess front bumper, Deavers and Toyo M/Ts.
Probably a Sprinter Custom Van conversion or maybe a UniMog Camper but I have a strict policy that my campers must be able to go thru an In&Out Drive Thru!

Now if there ever was a military surplus auction available for a pretty light 2.5 Ton M1079 VAN:

This seems to be the story of my life. Every time I find a vehicle that I'm passionate about, they stop making it

The Pinzgauer will fit thru IN&OUT's drivethru, no problem..

UniMog, most likely not, maybe the one near Lenwood/Barstow on the way to Vegas..

Austrian- Made by Steyer/Puch I think. You can get a really cherry one for about 15 grand.
Has to be the deal of the century.

That you were driving something that SWAT uses which gets 5 MPG and fuel went up to 10 bucks a gallon?
Just turn it around; you're driving something like that because you can.
