Who's in the Land of Mañana?

So, there are probably more of us in New Mexico than I can think of. Thought it might be nice to have a list!

I know (or think I know) of the following:

Velo47 - Albuquerque
BroncoHauler - Las Cruces area
RioNapo - Santa Fe
Salim - Dixon
HiDesert - Santa Fe
GrumpyBadger - Los Alamos, still?
Michal740 - Albuquerque
Photographix - Bernalillo, still?
Powderbum - Albuquerque
I'm sure I missed a few, or a lot, of others. Let me know today, or maybe mañana!

Thanks!
Matt

You can add me to the list. Powderbum, I’m in the Burque.

Yep, I'm in Dona Ana county, near Cruces.

Out of curiosity, how do you folks like it in NM? The entire front range of CO has exploded over the last decade and continues to, so we are looking at 5-ish year exit strategies. Seems like there are a fair amount of OHV and mtb opportunities while still being a pretty relaxed vibe. Heard crime is an issue, but isn't that everywhere?

I've been romancing this same idea for the last few years myself.

It's a lot less crowded than Colorado!

There's less outdoor recreational "infrastructure," but there's tons of public lands and outdoor activities. The Northern and middle Rio Grande valley corridor (Taos, Santa Fe, Albuquerque) is the most populous and liberal part of the state. The north is mainly rural democratic, with the southern part being more republican. Hotter, too!

The biggest problem here, especially in the Albuquerque area, is crime related to drugs and low income. The economy is driven by government spending and tourism. Very little industry here not related to the National labs or the air force bases.

Tiffany blue skies, in keeping with the turquoise the company mined near Cerrillos in the late 1800's and early 1900s. Martian red sunsets. Riparian ecosystems. Snowy mountains. Geology everywhere. Most of the North American climate zones. 5th largest state with most of the people confined to limited spaces.

No jobs. Land of the flea, home of the plague + hantavirus + rabies. So you probably want to avoid the place.
