Re: Yellowstone

Special thanks to Mike for the excellent guide.

photographix,

I am expecting crowds, but plan to avoid as much as I can. Thanks for the info. It ties into Mike's information.

Ah, yes. Jenny Lake Lodge rates $$$ for good reason for the non-campers and for four-star diners.

But for folks who camp and who enjoy good food, try camping in GTNP and heading to Jenny Lake Lodge for breakfast/brunch.

In fact, I find that late breakfast in any National Park lodge is a wonderful (and cost effective) experience. Best of both worlds: fabulous camping, and hot breakfast without the clean-up.

Cheers!

Expect to bring some polarized glasses and maybe a polarizer filter for your camera

Re: Yellowstone

Boiling River just outside the North Entrance. Very cool (and hot) place. Check for where the animals will be this time of season. They migrate around depending on seasonal temps.

Re: Yellowstone

I spent 2 days and never got to half of what's there and went back another year but the key is to hit the road early. I also really liked the yellowstone terraces as much as what I think they called the grand canyon

Re: Yellowstone

Hey TexGX:

You do know that grey dogs assume that you bought the van for them, right? And they just let you drive it because you have opposable thumbs and can reach the pedals?

Cheers!

Re: Yellowstone

Greydawg,

Exactly. I was in a tent but she (Lexi) did not like climbing into the cot with me. I then got a pop up trailer and that was fine, but not up to her standards. The Yeti is just right. She sleeps below on the rear seat and I sleep in the loft.

She is a special dog and goes everywhere with me, except Yellowstone as I want to hike and not leave her in the van all the time.

I also have a GSH and dachshund mix. Lexi is the only one that will not leave my sight. Great camping dog.

Re: Yellowstone

Well, I got the go ahead. I did change a few things. We are no longer stopping in Park City. We will leave AZ Friday evening or Saturday morning early. We will stop somewhere on Sat. night just to sleep. Yellowstone on Sunday - Thursday Canyon Camp Ground then Jenny Lake Lodge at GTNP is her reward for two nights. Excited.
