06 Duramax Van is Complete (for now)
Hey all,
Just figured I'd show you my Chevy 3500 LWB I just finished up. Got it in March from the second owner, ripped it all apart and started working on it. Now it's fit for some trips and hauling bicycles, skis, etc inside the van without a problem on a north-south layout while still sleeping two.
Specs are as follows for those interested:
06 Chevy 3500 LWB w/ Duramax 110k miles
Lift is a front Supreme Suspension spacer and Bilstein 5100 all around (inner fender/wheel well trimmed)
Discovery STT Maxx tires in a 285/75/18 with Method wheels
Renogy 150w solar panel setup on Rola rack
200ah Renogy battery with 40a MPPT
Maxxair Fan
ARB awning with VanagonLife mounts
Floors, insulation and wiring inside done by me
Campfyre Vans in Reno did the cabinetry
Future items will most likely be a diesel heater for inside during winter and possibly 4x4 if it struggles in snow this winter.
Thanks for checking it out!

Look great. I admire the simpler layout.

Love it. Any issues with your sliding door clearing the rear wheel?

No issues with the slider but it's about as close as it can get without touching.

You must have a little positive offset in your wheels. Mine are at zero and I rubbed a little until I shimmed the slide track.
Agreed, looks great. Be interesting to see what you think after driving it in the snow this winter. Do you have the G80 in the rear?

Could be on the offset. The wheels and tires stick out a bit but the previous owner had a tire/wheel shop and looked a lot into it before fitting the rims. I got new tires when I lifted but they weren't any wider.
I have the G80 in the rear. I got the STT Maxx because I have them on my truck and rarely have to use 4wd even in the snow going skiing because they have worked so well. The van is heavier over the rear so it might be just fine. We shall see.

Yep good stuff. The G80 with a nice set of tires will get you a long way. Keep us posted on any changes. Good to see another GM rig and especially a diesel one.
