2015 Chevy Quigley with Duramax

Don't have any pictures yet as a couple of things are being done to it, but yesterday I bought a 2015 Chevrolet Express 3500 with Quigley and Duramax engine. It has 6K miles on it and is a short wheel base window van.

I drove it back from Portland last night and wow, its amazing how quite the engine is and how smoothly the IFS rides. More to come later.

Whit

Yep I'll get some pictures up this weekend. Having a new head unit and rear dvd added for the kids and the up coming Thanksgiving trip over to Bend. I'll also fill in some comments either here or in another section after the trip giving my impressions between the E350 and this one. I can already tell you from the drive back last night that the differences are pretty stark in some areas.

Yep, will do. I plan on making some initial observations shorty with more detail the more I get to drive it.

Ok here some evidence that it happened...barely. Another busy day today getting ready to leave town for a week for thanksgiving. I did have time to plasti dip the front bow tie which you can see in process in one pic.

A couple of observations, the IFS rides really nicely and handles bumps and changes in the road really well. On the freeway it just floats like a big Cadillac. A downside is that around down it doesn't seem to turn as sharply or accurately as my E350 Quigley with Agile RIP. All in all though I can see that I'm going to be really happy with the change in the way I use my van. This will likely be great for putting on highway miles.

The drivetrain is just vastly improved, but I'd expect that since this is ten years newer. The Duramax is just shockingly quiet and smooth and has torque for days. Throttle response is pretty slow compared to my tuned 6.0, but I suspect I could change that with a little tuning here too. Put a foot in it though and when it decides you really want to go it takes off like a rocket. Driving the local highways running some errands this weekend and I've found myself going 70 several times when I thought I was closer to 60. The 6 speed, 3.53 gearing, and quite engine make this thing very capable of cruising. The transmission is very smooth.

It sits quite a bit lower and clearly needs some wheels and tires which I plan to order tomorrow. I'm trying to decided if I want to add a couple inches right away or try it as is for a while with the slight bump from bigger tires. I don't expect to be able to run 33s or 285x17 as I'd like to, but I'll post that here when I find out tomorrow.

I've already added a Pioneer head unit with Apple car play and rear seat entertainment for the rug rats as we head over to Bend tomorrow evening.

All for now. More to come....
