A few camper "caravans" from down under

I'm presently working in Australia for a month; two weeks done, two to go. Since it's Saturday here I went wandering around Melbourne with a borrowed camera from work.

They have an amazing variety of vehicles here. Lots of diesel everything, CNG etc.

The 4WD fashion here appears to be snorkel intakes and antennae mounted on front brushguards. No pictures of that yet, but here are a couple of interesting "caravans".....

I almost signed up for a per diem mail carrier job just so I could import a Delica in to the states.

Then I saw a Full size 4x4 van and stuck to my real job.

The mail carriers here wear bright yellow jackets and ride Honda 90's with yellow saddlebags..pretty cool....

a couple more.....

Example of the typical snorkel intake and antenna on the front brushguard

and a RHD mustang.....I imagine that these have to be a bit unusual here.

Re: A few camper "caravans" from down under

A high top hiace & another delica......spotted this past weekend in Lorne and Apollo Bay Victoria, Australia.

I talked to the owner of the Delica "Roz" ...she said these are grey market imports, so not too many around Australia. I've seen 3 Delicas since I've been here.

Re: A few camper "caravans" from down under

Here are a couple of rental camper cars that I spotted in Lorne, Australia.....a little beach town off the great Ocean Highway....

The rental company is apparently called wicked campers...tent on the roof, gear in the back, interesting slogans/tag lines on the sides....

The writing on the red one may be hard to read; it says "hey kid's roll a doobie for Scooby" on one side (with a picture of Scooby-do) and "I'm a street-walking cheetah with heart full of napalm" with Iggy Pop on the other.
