Re: Aluminess-Quadvan-Transit

Ok guys. No use in discussing taste. And Even being a german i do not (!) like Mercedes Benz.

BUT if I had to decide either the monster above or those below my choice would be clear.

Re: Aluminess-Quadvan-Transit

My opinion is that the Sprinter is the best looking of the bunch.

Well, Chetubi, it seems we can't help ourselves. I agree that the Sprinters pictured look better, but they are short bodies with bigger tires and more lift. I think the Transit would look similar in the short body with more lift and wheels/tires. These long tall vans with the little bitty wheels all look funny!

Re: Aluminess-Quadvan-Transit

Hm. Might be. I doubt it.

The NOSE remains.

And there is no room for bigger tires.

Re: Aluminess-Quadvan-Transit

The wheel and tire choice Quigley made here to "show off" their new bread winner is shocking. Somebody in marketing needs a stern talking to. I think with racks, Aluminess goodies, and upgraded wheels and tires it would be passable. I also think the roof height choice makes a big difference on these Transits. The low option looks weird while the high one only looks ok on the long version. The middle height seems to be the best visual for me. Nice to have all three choices straight from the factory though.

Re: Aluminess-Quadvan-Transit

If you look on the Sporstmobile website and go to 4x4-Sprinter, you'll see a 'stock' version…STILL looks much better (though they seem the same shape does the Sprinter nose must have better makeup?) but their marketing team was smart enough to show it 'in action' so the stock tires can't be a distraction or disappointment…AND it was with a great snow scene…it looks to have a 2-4 inch lift as well…I can't tell you how happy we didn't wait to buy our ECONOLINE SMB till we could afford one …I'm going to go and take a look at Sporty right now...

Re: Aluminess-Quadvan-Transit

If aesthetics are the only concern, sure E series wins; sure Sprinter (OSV in particular IMO). Transit however is much better to drive than either, much more comfortable than an E series with far better fuel economy. Cheaper to maintain with many more maintenance locations worldwide than Sprinter (and I'm sure better paint quality than Sprinter). I think the Transit will make a great platform for an expedition vehicle, and you can even disguise yourself as a plumber A stand-up hard top van will never have good proportions..
