Re: Engineer Pass, CO

Didn't know the photo existed until my wife showed it to me this morning.
It was a fall trip that we had taken before, always trying to include 4 wheeling, kayaking, mtn biking and camping.
We started at Lake San Cristobal, went to Lake City up the Alpine loop back down FR878 to Ouray to Ridgeway State park. We met my daughter and her family at the Amphitheater Campground in Ouray. It's A small campground just east of Ouray on HWY 550, one of our top 10. My son-in-law did the Imogene Pass Running Race from Ouray to Telluride over Imogene Pass, I do Imogene Pass from the driver's seat. We ended up at Redstone(See Rocky Mtn Traffic Jamb posted earlier.)
The Redstone Campground, 1 mile north of town on HWY 133 is another favorite.
Both of the campgrounds make great base camps for exploring the surrounding areas.
If anyone is interested, maybe we can put something together next year. We've found the best time is right after Labor Day, not as crowded and still warm. Some of the most scenic area's in CO.

Yes, there's lots of great primitive camping spots.

Did you have to mooooove over?

Great looking rig. Are those 35's; how many inches did you lift; and are those sliders or electric steps?

Re: Engineer Pass, CO

Thanks. I did have 35"s but went to 33" and less aggressive tread. (325 60R18) I wanted something quieter and the 33"s brought the speedometer and odometer back to where it should be.
Deaver springs were added by the previous owner. A nice addition and I didn't have to take the hit.
The rock guards/steps also came with the van. I think they were installed by Sportsmobile. They were installed with machine screws so I did have to change that out to nuts and bolts and threaded inserts where needed.

Nice pic! I see you are up in Ned. A fella by the name of Rodger Kram lives up there. He has a SMB. I believe with the 7.3 PSD.
