Fuel prices in Death Valley, June 20, 2012
I did a double take. I guess if they can get it, they will
Luckily, my tank was full.

Yosemite and even places on I-5 between LA and Sac can be like that out here in CA...
One of long time camper van friends is moving to Austin, TX next week and he was there today double checking things and he saw regular gas for $301.9 thats 80-90 cents a gallon cheaper than around here this week...and I thought was decent here...
Hope you are enjoying your trip...

Fuel prices in Death Valley, June 20, 2012
Thanks, I am. We are headed back to Tn tomorrow, where gas is about 3.10.
I'll be glad to get back to that. I've been paying 3.50-3.75 most of my trip though, not too bad.

Gas prices in Death Valley can be outageous. I was there in mid-May and it was $6.189 a gallon for premium. Thank God I was on a motorcycle and only needed about 2 gallons to top off the tank. But things are extreme any way you look at it. Apparently we rode in on a "nice" day since it only reached 109 that day! Nowhere to hide on a motorcycle...

Used to be water. Now it's gasoline.

Re: Fuel prices in Death Valley, June 20, 2012
Good to know that it is that high out there. Were are road tripping in 3 weeks (wish we already had a van but we are taking our 4runner and hope to hit a few trails.) We planned to loop through DV on our way from Yosemite to Vegas. Those are some crazy prices. I have been paying $2.69 or so here for the last several weeks.
Good thing I am taking 10 gallons of fuel cans along!

Oh, this was just a wild example, it's not THAT high out there, about 3.60 or so most places I went. Death Valley has one station, and as I stated, if they can get that much for it, they will.
