Re: Happy Birthday Betty Lou
I'll try to post more pics when the weather's better, she's tucked away in the garage now. She belonged to a friend who's in-laws bought it new, spent it's whole life in Michigan but evendently wasn't driven much in the salt because there's very little rust--that's all original paint. It's only got 72k mi. on the clock and is pretty much all original although I did just replace the stock VW front seat upholstery. I borrowed this bus about 20 years ago for a weekend camping trip so my 3 kids all slept in it (the youngest slept in a car seat between the front seats). I got into the bus scene with a Westfalia I restored several years ago and put out a feeler to my friend who said his wife was finally willing to part with it so we got it this past fall. I've been cleaning it up, new curtains, luggage rack was a Christmas present. We can't wait for camping in the spring! It IS slow though, an automatic to boot!
