They have the same photo as the opening photo in this thread. It was taken 13 miles north of the Arizona/Utah line on 163.

Visitors can pay an access fee and drive through the park on a 17-mile (27 km) dirt road (a 2-3 hour trip). Tours are also available, and the fee varies between about $40 and $100 per person depending on the services provided and route. There are parts of Monument Valley which are only accessible by guided tour, such as Mystery Valley and Hunts Mesa.

Hunt's Mesa was one of the tours our group took. (I highly recommend) Contrary to to what the guide and others thought, a SMB 4x4 EB can make it.

Re: HAS ANYONE BEEN ON THIS ROAD?

The daily $5 entry fee allows you to drive your car on the basic dirt road that takes you near a few of the scenic spots. It's often a jam scene. Negotiate with a guide to get further in. They DO like your $$$.

Re: HAS ANYONE BEEN ON THIS ROAD?

If you happen to go there I would recommend checking out the Moki Dugway. Cool drive and some spectacular views and camping up that way.

The Indian Country Guide Map is still available at AAA. At least it is at the Las Vegas office a few blocks from my home.

awesome pics Jeffrey, as usual. well done! thanks for sharing.
seems like a magical place to visit. will add it to my trip list.
With a guide and a 4x4, there are many backroads to travel on and much more to see.

Here is a trip report thread that I went on from last year. Although the trip included more than just Monument Valley, you will get a good idea of what is out there off the main road.

Gorgeous pictures. Thanks. I'm in next time you get a group together and want to do it again.
