I ain't got no 4x4 :(
But I still want to look cool! Anyone else able to pull off the 4x4 look without the conversion? i.e., trail ready bumpers, lift, a/t tires, etc? Fee free to show off your 2x4!

Wow, looks great man! You said that's a 4.5" lift? What size tires and wheels do you have?

Mac. Looking at your gallery, I noticed you often get off the beaten path. Have you ever had a butt pucker moment where you wished you had 4x4??

Stanw909: Only in snow and ice. I got stuck in deep snow, but I never have been stuck in desert sand. Of course, I don't do any heavy rock crawling and I avoid beaches that have deep sand. If I had 4x4 I would not avoid these areas. I would be more adventurous if I had 4x4. The key for me is don't be stupid when it comes to the areas I drive. Particularly since I am usually alone when I am out on lonely, back roads.

Running with 2 legs... with a little taller tires w/o rubbing. No lift yet, added an Aluminess tire carrier, ladder, and some roof rack accessories (no PH yet) and people think I've got a 4x4. Maybe its because the size of these rigs?

Ray, how are you putting bigger tires on there without a lift? To me, anything bigger than 245/75/R16's will rub the front fenders.
What size tires are you running?

Re: I ain't got no 4x4 :(
Aside from the lift I suppose you could add a locker. 4WD without lockers is kinda one wheel on each axle anyway. But I find the biggest benefit of the 4WD conversion is the low range transfer case. But hey, lift and tires are pretty significant.

235/85/16 BFG A/T E Rated. Doesn't look to bad.... Took it Death Valley, washboard roads, beach (nothing gnarly) and did very well. I can tell you one thing, I didn't feel like my kidneys were going to burst on washboard roads unlike my old 4x4
A little mud on the wheels help out on the cool factor.
