My girlfriend rented a Jeep and let her boys drive. I tried to get them into different situations and teach them how to do some stuff if they ever encountered it on their own. He simply didn't get on the gas hard enough and got stuck. It wasn't too bad and I pulled him out easily. Afterwards, he did it the right way and went through it.

I did it in the van and it wasn't super easy.

Re: I haven't been here a lot lately...

I had a meeting at Glen Helen today about an upcoming Ultra 4 (King Of The Hammers) race next week. On the way home I realized we were in the van with new, untested tires, and a mountain range full of trails between us and home. We took the higher road and stopped pounding pavement!

We didn't have anybody following us, nor did we have our normal off-roading supplies...so I promised to "take it easy".

Then things got crazy, quickly, but I was ready for it! If I hadn't been watching my lines and paying attention to where my tires were, we would've tipped on the drivers side, then probably rolled on to the roof.

That looks like a GM 14 Bolt Full Floater back there with a Detroit Locker in it!

Yep! But it still grabs your attention while wondering if it's going to stop on it's own or if you have to let off the brakes and roll through it (pardon the pun)!

You know it is!

I was actually thinking of you today...thinking I need to step up my off-road campervan game! When are we going to meet up again?

crazy. those pix make me feel like a pussy

people call me crazy for where i take my van and it is absolutely nothing compared to where you (and others) take yours. i had a wheel off the ground once unexpectedly and about shit my pants. apparently i haven't even scratched the surface of what these vans will do...

nice driving sir. hats off to ya

Re: I haven't been here a lot lately...

Thanks again! I've been slowly working my way up to this kind of wheeling in a van. I have tons of wheeling experience in a Jeep and rock crawlers.

If any of you would like to join me, I'd be happy to share what I've learned. Just keep in mind, I take pictures of the extreme stuff...it's not all like this, and most of the wheel lifting can be avoided with a different line choice.
