that downhill section in the photo above (much steeper than looks in photo) would have been a nightmare with a rekluse for me, but i guess its something you get used too. Thats good to know that other than downhills you can still use your clutch and gears as usual.

Re: Joined SMB nation

The downhills are always much steeper than the photos! it's weird......

The loss of engine braking only happens when the rear wheel is locked up, since the clutch disengages to prevent stalling.......you quickly get used to having to rev the motor to re-engage on downhills.....overall way worth it, especially in slow technical sections.

With 16" aluminum rims?
Any 16" aluminum rim that will fit on a 2008 thru 2014 stock E350 starting with the factory aluminum wheels.
I'm thinking SMB fitted larger brakes than what came stock with the 350 series on their conversions, the F-450 brakes system...no? Is there a big difference between the brakes on my 2006 350 compared to the 2008 and up 350's? If so I would consider that.

Currently I'm running the Brakeman modified rotors and pads but the calipers are the stock size.

Re: Joined SMB nation

FWIW......the 2008+ stock rotors are 13.58" dia....and not usable for 4WD applications. The F450 rotors are 14.52" dia and will just fit with 17" wheels. F350 rotors are 13.62" dia.

The 2008+ Calipers are low profile which helps get them in between the wheels and the rotors.

Re: Joined SMB nation

I'm pretty sure that was what they told me and why the new 4x4's looked like they had larger rims. But heck, that was a long time ago. As mentioned, I just can't justify 8 new tires and rims if I upgraded to the 450 brakes.

If you want a good selection of tires and wheels, check out this thread in the 4x4 area...
