Re: Just purchased - 1997 EB 4x4

Is that a swing away, hitch mounted spare tire carrier? Would love some info on that.

The inner one is an Aluminess one for a stock bumper. I am not sure about the other one.

Hi Herb, no its not a swing away but is off centered enough to clear the right door, i have a cabinet on the left so i don't open it much. I just took a dual hitch receiver extension and turned it sideways. Should work ok for the few times i'll use it. Tapped a number of spots for bolts to take away any rattling.

Mine is 2X4 but similar paint scheme. I have the old-school aluminum running boards but definitely want some of the ATS boards after seeing yours.

Keep the pics coming...
E277, I had a set of running boards almost like that to give away (I only asked for a small contribution to the forum) but nobody wanted them. Rock Slide Engineering has or had them and would ship if the shipping was paid. You might give them a call. Maybe they still have them.

I still like those stripes GNTY

Re: Just purchased - 1997 EB 4x4

Spent a lot of today getting ready to leave next weekend. I did a service on the van and the generator, sandblasted the generator cover and the propane access door and repainted them, and i also got some new plates for my mud flaps. I was going to just go all flat black but thought i'd try the SMB theme.
I've still got to cut some new carpet to lay over the factory carpet (to keep it clean)
A few more things and we'll be ready to go.

Re: Just purchased - 1997 EB 4x4

Looks sharp. I would keep an eye on that passenger side, rear mud flap and make sure it doesn't contact the exhaust pipe and melt or catch fire. It seems like it's fairly close.

Thanks Herb, it does look close in the pic but there is about a 6 inch gap between the flap and exhaust pipe.

Re: Just purchased - 1997 EB 4x4

Hi GNTY! I am picking up my SMB next week!! Mine is similar!! Been trying to decide on tires and rims. What size did you decide on? What kind of fender flares did you go with? And finally the mud flaps are sweet? From SMB?
Thanks hope your trip is going great!

Thanks! would love to see some pics of your new ride when you get it. We had to push the trip back one week due to a heath issue, but we're good to go this weekend. We might miss the fall colors of the far north thou.
Tires are BFG All terrains, on level 8 strike 8's from discount tire, tire size is 265/75/16.
Flares are bushwacker
And the mud flaps are Gatorbacks sold by Truck Hardware, i made the SMB decals and put them on, hope SMB doesn't mind.
