Re: Lucky

Now that my top is coming together, I took some measurements to show one of the main reasons I'm doing this... A much larger bed!

SMB
width of mattress: 39.5"
width between poles: 42.5"
width of canvas: 53"
height (mattress top to ceiling): 28.5"

CCV
width of mattress: 54.5"
width between poles*: 48"
width of canvas: 60"
height (mattress top to ceiling): 40"

*the poles are far front and back on the CCV top, so in addition to being much wider, they don't hit you in the back when you roll over like the SMB.

It is clean (even though I did that part), but not as clean as it looks... You just can't see the aluminum UniStrut as it blends in with the top.

Re: Lucky

Looks great! Why no roof vent ahead of those solar panels? I sure enjoyed mine.

I wouldn't really use it. When the top is up there is loads of ventilation. When it's down (and it's hot) the AC is on.

Re: Lucky

What I used mine for mostly was ventilation when we were out of the van. Parked in a hot parking lot I would turn it on with a window or two cracked and keep the air flowing. Of course mine was dark blue and perhaps the hottest vehicle I've ever owned. I can't imagine what a black fixed top would be like!

You can always add one later, but harder to do with the wiring and all, I had talked to Derek about wanting one, but I didn't know it never made it onto the build sheet, I showed up after the top was installed and carpeted, which they just peeled back, added wiring and cut the hole. We use it often as well for some air flow when parked, keeps things cool for the pooch too. Looks good Robb, would have liked to have seen it and hung out before you you left, next time. Spent this last weekend camping off some trails up near lake Granby, I need a KTM! Went through RMNP on Saturday, hazy but nice, got to hang out with 2 sets of mom and baby moose up close, got some great pics. Saw you were there at some point too.
