Motorcycle Carrier

Built this today for my KLR 650.
As you can see I used an after market Trailer Hitch then added 2 more receptacles 8.5in deep welded them in. Then I made the bike platform to fit. All said and done $200 bucks later and I'm impressed with myself. Im sure its over kill but I'm good with that..
With the bike on it lowers the rear 1/2in and only raises the front 1/8in. I expected more.

Well done Ron! I'm really liking the multiple-point hitch concept for carriers.

We've got a light weight two-bike unit that supposed should hold a 400# plus a 200# bike, but it would make me nervous as heck to actually load it like that. Your setup is way more solid and confidence inspiring!

Consider using a carabiner or quick-link on your tiedown ends so that if the strap loses tension for any reason there is no chance of it coming unhooked.

I like it, but I'm wondering how long until someone bashes their shin on that piece on the left that sticks out way further than the rest while the bike is off the carrier. I think I would do it to myself at least once the first day.

I think i will trim it a little once I get used to the bike being back there and my confidence builds, I'm still worried its going to fall off. until then I'm thinking a little red flag while I'm riding and bike is off the carrier. Of course most of the time it will look like this.
