My first SOLO Trip

At last, I got to go for a long weekend trip to one of my favorite places, the Owens Valley in eastern California. I mainly spent time in the Alabama Hills near Lone Pine, and the Buttermilk country near Bishop. Here are some images of places I trek to and camping spots that are to die for. Having the SMB for the first time in places I have visited dozens of past times was a pure pleasure. I LOVE it!!

I think these are places I'd lead a group of us to for a weekend gathering, if anyone is interested.

I love the pictures Jeffrey, however, I'm not surprised since I've seen some of your other pictures as well. They are excellent.

I may need to talk to you for some advice of places to camp the weekend of October 19. That is when we pick up our SMB in Fresno and drive it back down to San Diego. I've driven through that area countless times when going to Mammoth and Tahoe, but I've somehow managed to never camp there.

Oh yea, Ed is right, your SMB is cleaner than my truck right now. And I washed it last weekend and it has only seen the highway since then!

Thanks, guys.

Yeah the rig was sort of clean, from some rain, which kept the dust down on those normally dusty roads.

The color of the van and the new car paint sheen also makes it look cleaner that it is.

PM me for some camping suggestions.

I know that area well and enjoy it very much. Lots of fun exploring and as your pics show, fantastic scenery.

An SMB outing in that area would be a lot of fun.

Jeffrey,

As you know Cindy and I will be up for it. If my transmission will shift ok and not spew fluid all over the place.

I use to do some climbing out at the Buttermilks area a few years ago, Its beautiful out there.

Jeffrey,

Your rig looks great with the Alabama's & Buttermilks for backdrop. The SMB's were made for that kind of terrain!

Thanks for sharing,
Jeff

Re: My first SOLO Trip

Jeffrey,

Very nice photos. Glad you are having so much fun with your new van. Will there be lots more van photos and less Rover photos on your website from now on? I really enjoy your photo website too. Hopefully we'll meet on the road someday, or at a model railroad meet, or at a photo show!

Regards,

Brian Rutherford
