Re: My new wip...

Update...

Van is gutted.

Just got it back from Line-X.

Next I'll drop both fuel tanks and install 3 strips of Mac's Versatrack to accommodate my Sprinter van two seater, sofa-bed, and small custom multiposition table.

After the track is installed I'll cut my new wall panels from King Starboard.

Questions:

What is the best insulation to use for wall cavities? Spray foam would be cool, but seems like the kits would be expensive and messy.

Re: My new wip...

Ya... it was covered in carpet and gew, so I figured Line-x to match would be cool. I have the factory plastic insert with cup holders, glove box, and map book compartment that slides into the top... should make it look a little more complete.

Re: My new wip...

I'll have to remember that. Seems the gray paint(?) that Ford sprayed mine is rubbing off and showing black

DON'T USE SPRAY FOAM. It could warp your exterior body panels due to the expansive forces generated. It could also trap moisture, leading to rust issues.

Since we have similar vehicles, a word of caution that may save you a bit of trouble with your Penthouse's canvas: On the under-side of your penthouse top, the (2) plastic ribs that divide the (3) sections of wood paneling used for the head liner have been known to shift to the side.

I've had it happen and I've seen a post about someone else having the same problem. In my case, I did not notice the problem until that plastic piece had torn a hole in my canvas. I ended up loosening (not removing) the wood panels, bit by bit coercing the plastic rib back in place by "massaging" the rib while wearing rubber gloves, and then repairing the torn canvas.

Just feel along the outer edges of those wooden panels (aka headliner) to make sue you don't hLave the same problem brewing.

ENJOY!
Ditto on our 2010, some things never change, but should!
