Nothing like hot, fresh muffins in the morning.

This reminds me of one of the coolest (and most baffling) rigs I ever saw out on the road, maybe 20 years ago.. We were headed to Acadia, and saw a guy driving a Winnebago. Behind the Winnebago, he was towing a Humvee. The Hummer had an uber-stout roof rack. Perched on the Hummer's roof rack was a trailer with a boat on it (which was as long as the Hummer). I remember being stunned, and over years I have often wondered how he would get the boat on and off the roof rack (no long snorkel to go under and float it off... no crane on the Winnie, etc). Not a clue...

Not exactly. We were camped at the Cochora Ranch. This was before they locked all the gates. I was out taking pictures and my wife was in the van napping. She heard something that she thought was raindrops and found herself surrounded. I came back in time to see a couple of the more "amorous" cows nearly drive each other into the van. I got out my emergency air horn and shooed the herd through the gates and closed them out. We were careful where we stepped that trip for sure!

Broken down in Death Valley on our very first trip!

Hey SteveinLA, just out of curiosity, what was the shop/tow that yanked you out of DV? And what was the problem?

All the sordid details can be found here. The short answer is a faulty powertrain control module. Ravelco did inspect the installation and found that it was adequate but could have been done better, so they re-did it. That re-done installation needed to be re-done again years later to fix my last power-related issue and has (so far) not been any trouble.

I don't recall the towing company name. From the second truck, it appears that it was Two Star Towing in Pahrump, but they don't seem to be in business anymore. If that was based on a 1-5 star rating, they were accurately named.

Ouch. Sorry. What a buzzkill. Paul and Sons in Ridgecrest towed my wife out of Kennedy Meadows when she overheated the tranny and they yanked me out of DV when I broke a steering rod going over Mengel Pass. One of the best shops I've ever worked with! Super funny that both my wife and I had the pleasure of camping out in their parking lot in scenic Ridgecrest.
Hijack over.

Amazing pictures. I realize how lucky I am to live where I do, as most of all your pics are in my backyard.
